Proprioception

Proprioceptors are specialized sensory receptors on nerve endings found in:
-muscles
-tendons
-joints
-inner ear
that informs the brain about our own body position and movement in space.

These receptors detect subtle changes in:
-movement
-position
-tension
-force
within the body and allow muscles to contract and produce movement and help protect us from injuries caused by a sudden trauma or over stretching. Text from
